The line starts at Embsay station (2 miles from Skipton) and passes through Holywell Holt, where you can stop for a picnic whilst watching the trains, and on to Bolton Abbey Station. A one an a half mile walk takes you to the Bolton Abbey Estate. Here you will find the ruins of a 12th century Augustinian monastery nestling on the banks of the River Wharfe with miles of footpaths for all ages to explore.
